Peter E. Tracy has been practicing law since 1976 when he was first admitted to practice law in New York State.  He began his California law practice shortly thereafter, in 1977.  He is also admitted to practice law in Nevada and Idaho, as well as many federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court.

Peter has a prestigious education background. He earned his undergraduate A.B. at Dartmouth College, and the A.M. at Stanford University.  He earned his law degree from the oldest independent law school in North America: Albany School of Law of Union University. Albany Law is situated in Albany– New York’s state capitol. During law school, Peter worked as a legal intern in the New York State Assembly, and after graduation he worked in the New York State Legislature as a lobbyist for one of the most prestigious organizations: Associated Industries of New York State. These experiences gave Peter a close connection with experienced attorneys who practiced civil law.  This synergy served him well when he later acted as City Attorney for the City of Bishop, California and the Town Attorney in the Town of Mammoth Lakes, California.

While it is rare to find someone with such depth and breadth of experience in a small town like Bishop, Peter explains it easily, “I just love it here”.

Peter has been a legal advisor and counselor to the people of Bishop for many years, but his involvement with the community doesn’t terminate at his office doorstep.  His personal passion is to see every deserving student in Bishop graduate from college within 4 years, and to that end he works tirelessly to gain placement in public and private colleges and Universities at a fair cost.  In fact, his office is festooned with banners of those schools, each one sent to him by an appreciative student whom he has helped.
